An easy way to do this is to have a friend slide a hand mirror on the side-wall until the edge of the speaker is visible when looking at the mirror from the listening chair.he side wall first reflections will be minimized this way.

You can do the same thing to find the front wall reflections. Slide a mirror on the wall behind the speakers and mark, with tape, the wall where you can see any part of the speakers from the listening chair. For dipoles put diffusers in that zone.

An easy way to do this is to have a friend slide a hand mirror on the side-wall until the edge of the speaker is visible when looking at the mirror from the listening chair. Then adjust the toe-in so that only the side of the speaker, not any part of the front or back, is visible in the mirror. Then you will be looking down the lateral  axis of the speaker through the mirror.. This is only one option for toe in. You may find the results too extreme but the side wall first reflections will be minimized this way.

Thanks for the detailed explanation Al!

You can also use one of those inexpensive "laser" tape measures to help with alignment and finding the reflection points.
