Perhaps this can become a sticky in the Music Circle?
L-O-V-E Rockabilly music of all kinds and will venture out to hear it live whenever I get a chance.
Think: poodle skirts, slicked back hair, tattoos, chains, longneck bottles of PBR, upright acoustic "doghouse" bass, motorcycle boots, white tee-shirts, black jeans (even in 90o degree heat), hot-rod cars, frighteningly loud and fiery engines, burn-outs, etc.
First entry for this thread is Josie Kreuzer, "Hot Rod Girl", on She-Devil Records, with Hot Rod Lincoln providing her back-up band.
She writes, sings, plays guitar, started her own music label, She-Devil, and is beautiful! What a combo!

Hoping there are other fans out there. Let's give this thread some traction! :guitar:

I'm going to state the obvious and get it out of the way... Anything from Brian Setzer. I saw him with his Holiday orchestra and was blown away.

Oh boy, I wish you guys could help me open my eyes to this. I like stuff in almost all other genres of music, but I've never been able to warm of to Rockabilly. It has everything component I should like, but I always find the total less than the sum of the parts. I immediately thing "poseeurs" when I see and hear them.
I don't want to be that way. Can you help?
-
^ Its all about the rhythm and soul (just like every other genre). There is a taste of irony, satire and even humility that tops off rockabilly for me.
Try this out:

This guys boundaries are broad, but rockabilly is in his wheelhouse for sure.

RDanny, thanks for turning us on to J. Kruezer. I locked into a block (streaming) and now hunting for hard copies.

The Belmont Playboys - One Night of Sin ... Live!! (recorded live in Atlanta)
I saw these guys perform some years back during a rockabilly weekend at the Starlight Drive-In Atlanta. Fantastic show! Lead guitarist and singer (and songwriter) Mike Hendrix is supremely talented.
