Hi,
thanks very much for accepting me in the AudioCircle.
I got a question already:
I recently bought the Omnia WR-1 streamer. Now I'm wondering about the best way to connect it to an Asus Zenbook, so I can make use of the Omnia's streaming abilities. I'd like to make sure that I get the real 24/192 HighRes resolution via Qobuz Studio, which I have subscribed to.
My idea would be to buy an external soundcard that connects via USB to the computer and via Optical out/in to the Omnia. But I'm not really sure. I'd really appreciate any suggestions.
Thank you very much in advance.

Omnia WR-1 is meant to be a companion product to a full featured DAC or integrated amp or active speaker.
In your case, do you have a DAC to connect to your laptop? Is WR-1 your entire audio system other than amp ?

Hi rustydoglim,
thank you very much for your answer.
Simply said, I replaced a fm-tuner with the Omnia WR-1 in a very traditional "vintage" (Luxman, JBL) set up (preamp, poweramp, speakers). I remote control the Omnia via my iPhone. This setup works quite fine. I have the Spotify-app and the Qobuz-HiRes-App on the phone.
Furthermore I'd like to connect a laptop to the Omnia, because the computer-app of the Qobuz-service allows you to make sure that you really listen to HiRes-files. The Omnia won't show the resolution-data in its display. It shows which song is playing and that's that.
Hence my question in my first post.
Thank you once again.

You need to wait for WR-2. WR-1 as an entry level streamer, lacks the USB audio input.

rustydoglim,
thank you once again for the answer.
Do you know when the WR-2 will come out? Probanly I will have to sell the WR-1 then.
Kind regards,
Gray

Probably before end of the year. The Stream-9 has higher priority (I know you need WR-2 for the analog output and built-in DAC)

Thanks. Sounds promising.

Hi all,
This means the new MR will be able to connect directly to a usb hard disk?

Yes.

hi Jason
what are the technical characteristics of the streamer-9?

so on the WR-2 there will be the usb input?
will the coax output always be 16 / 44.1? or will it be superior?

Stream-9 has 24bit/192kHz streaming and outputs to I2S/Optical/Coaxial for connecting to DAC-9SE.
Stream-9 does not have analog output because it doesn't have built-in DAC. It is a streaming transport for the 9-series.
For the AMG series, we might include the DAC and streaming together.
Will there be a WR-2, it is not clear at this point.

Jason,
Can the Stream-9 connect to any DAC so long as it accepts I2S/Optical/Coaxial?

Yes, but I2S is not an industry standard so check the pins specifications.
