NYC_P, is your max budget still 400 bucks?  Are you leaning any particular direction, yet?  Those Mini-Salks look mighty attractive.

I decided to order a pair of the Salks for a number of reasons, even though they are higher than my set budget.
-The titanium cone and black satin finish will match up nicely with the silver/black harmon kardon 630 that just showed up (sounds wonderful, by the way).

-The smaller size was a better fit for the top of our bookshelf compared to a lot of other speakers I looked at.

-I know Jim builds speakers that will last a very long time, are built locally and will sound better than anything at double the price.

-We tend to take care of our stuff here and keep things for a long while. So these could end up as computer near-filed monitors in the future or passed down in the family.

So... (dramatic silence) ..it has come to this. I look forward to our third pair of Salks.
