Townshend Supertweeters isolation
« on: 3 Jan 2012, 07:38 pm »
I would like to isolate my Townshend Super Tweeters that are placed atop my floorstanding speakers. Dimensions are 50mm (W), 30mm (H), 100mm (D). Is there a Herbie product that will be suitable for this?

Hi, Jostber. Four small Soft Fat Dots in place of the little bumpers under each Supertweeter should do very well.

Thanks. That might be a good option. Would it also work with two Big Tall TenderSoft feet instead under each tweeter as I might want to lift it up a bit from the speaker to shield from the magnets?

Tenderfoot isolation feet might do very well, though that would be in the category of a "YMMV" tweak. If you want extra height, I recommend a hardwood or Baltic birch plywood block, with small Thin Fat Dots between the block and floorstander and small Soft Fat Dots between the wood block and tweeter.

I don't know that there's anything else that would be the "best" option. Though not featured on our website, Herbie's Audio Lab can provide Gabon ebony hardwood blocks, configured as suggested. Here is a photo of an ebony block with a grungebuster Dot attached:

A pair of these under each tweeter should do super well, substituting a "Thin" Fat Dot on the bottom for decoupling and adding a Soft Fat Dot on top for the tweeter to sit on.

For reference, I ended up ordering the ebony hardwood blocks and look forward to get these. :)
