I started with an Audio Technica AT-LP120 in 2012 and that thing was a tank. I eventually upgraded to a VPI, but I do miss the easy to swap headshells and the option for 78 RPM. I also picked up a couple of Audio Technica AT-LP3 automatic belt drive tables for friends and they have been problem free. I haven’t compared them side by side to my stuff, but I think they are great for the cost.

I use an AT-LP7. I'm not an expert but I think it sounds good. I suppose the most likely thing people do next is upgrade the cartridge. Importantly also, it's reliable and fuss-free, which I certainly can't say for the Rega and Origin Live I had before it...
