What's up Doc ?
« on: 10 Nov 2015, 11:14 pm »
Hi all.
(Especially diabetes type 2)
With this new topic I just want to share my experience as a (Ex) diabetes type 2
with other diabetes type 2 or even very healthy members.
A few days ago, I went to get my blood sugar level measured.
I am at 7.1 which to me is high, but the doctor said it's within the norms.
4 to 7 is consider normal.
Then, I am 0.1 above what's consider as normal.
Six months ago, I was 6.3 and I want to get back to that number.
I would like to be at 6.0
therfore, I will readjust my diet, I am guilty of drifted a little with some small pieces of pies,
my reward for being a good and reasonnable diabetes type 2,
but I will cut on that.
Exercise wise, I walk an average of one hour a day and do some exercise.
I think the diet is more important than the exercise.
My weight is still stable at 60Kg or 132 lbs
I have stop completely my methaformin (Glucophage)
even if the doctor told me that I have to take the pills until I die.
I have found a family doctor (That's how it works now here in the province of Quebec.)
and my apointment is on January 18 - 2016, that's right 9 weeks from now
and I've been told that I am lucky to get one.
By the way, the -my doctor is a Vietnamese woman.
I will ask her for a complete check-up. (  )
My blood pressure is 122 on 72 (Not bad) I use to be 120 on 80
but I have to admit that I am these days a little stressed.
In my next post I will share with you what I eat every day.
Please feel free to post your experience, but please, please do not talk about Monsanto
or anything political, I don't want this topic to drift on something that will
make the AudioCircle police put us in jail.

Hi 2bigears.
When ever I am home (Apartment) my little Grace Mondo Internet radio is on
(Mainly or almost exclusively on 181.fm)
with or without my Sennheiser HD570
and all night long (Believe me or not) I listen to CJPX FM (Classical music)
on my little Sony portable.
So... I have plenty of relaxing musical medecine.
By the way, if a few cool ones means beer,
well, I never drink that stuff. Never did, never will.
However, I drink plenty of hot green tea and some Lipton
tea with Stevia and Amlmond-Cocoa milk unsweetened.

Hi all diabetes type two or nut not !

Something about food to keep the nut ball rolling.

Going around town (Montreal that is) for the last six months,
I have noticed and mentally recorded that 75% of people are over weight.
25% are really, really obese to a point that they huff and puff, looking for their breath
and are having difficulty to walk.
That's terrible, it's not improving, it's worsening...
People don't realize that their obese condition is not to their benefit on a long term basis.

Hi all,
when I was on planet Vietnam I order from Amazon two bottles of Pure Stevia powder.
That was about two years ago and I am now running low on the wonderfull powder.
Hoever, this time I am wondering if I should try the Stevia in liquid form.
Since that white powder is not very expensive, I might order one or two bottle of the liquid stuff,
just to taste and also to see if the liquid is more convenient to use than the powder ?
Anyone of you diabetes type 2 have tried the liquid form ???

Hi (Again) all.
Here are a few types of Stevia.
(So many brands and type, there's 14 pages on Amazon website.)
Very difficult to choose and even if someone recommend me something he likes
that perticular brand or kind,
does not mean I will like it.
I remember an AudioCircle member mentionned that the Stevia had a bitter taste,
which I did not find.
Here are a few:

''NOW'' organic Stevia extract 2fl. oz bottle 13.89CND$

''NOW FOODS'' Stevia liquid extract 2 fl. oz bottle 15.58CND$

''NOW FOODS'' better Stevia original liquid extract 8fl.oz bottle Pack of 2 42.06CND$

Stevia liquid sweet drops - Stevia select natural sweetener extract from sweet leaf 2fl.oz bottle 15.60CND$

Some of them have alcool, which I don't think it's good ???

Any comment and-or suggestions ?

They both are industrial products, lipton seems a drink.

HI (Again) FullRangeMan,
that's not a very strong argument or proof.
Even green tea can be classified as an industrial product... :(

Guy 13, you can use Trehalose as a sweetener. It will never raise blood sugar levels because you can't digest more than maybe 10 calories of it, and it's not bad for in any way shape or form. It is entirely unlike fake sugars, sugar alcohols, etc.

The only other alternative is Agave but it has a good amount of Fructose, which is harder on the liver so someone with diabetes may desire to be more cautious.

Also I'd be willing to bet Lipton may have benefits, but other brands of tea will have considerably more. Specifically Sencha, Kukicha ("twig tea"), and Bancha varieties of green are good for you. Lipton would be considered low quality tea, btw. Poorly produced anything can be grown in bad soil with pesticides. It's nice to buy tea from companies that take pride in their product instead of their returns.

Green Tea not good if you have tinitus or labyrinthitis.
Its cafeine are strong and affect the inner ear.
So I had to quit it.

I'm actually not big on lots of green tea personally, due to caffeine as well. It doesn't have a lot so a cup is ok I suppose, but more than that bothers me a bit. However swiss decaf coffee only makes me feel good (like taking magic feel good pills); it's got less caffeine than green tea but quiet a bit. In fact I'd have to consume about 8-17 cups of swiss decaf to get one cup of green tea.

FullRangeMan, have you done a 23&Me ? I found out my genetics basically make it so I process caffeine VERY slowly. Ironically I'm a powerhouse for alcohol which is funny because the site that gave these results says that's a negative genetic trait because it can lead to alcoholism :duh: .

Hi FullRangeMan,
the green tea I drink is from planet Vietnam, it's called Oolong
and I still have plenty, therefore no need to buy more locally here in Montreal.

Hi Folsom.
The items you mention above are not always easy to find.
I am aware that the Lipton tea is not the best,
but it's better than soft drink or the same.
I also drink one large cup a day of Oolong green tea
with nothing else in it.
Stevia is from natural plant and got near zero calorie.
I am open to anything different, better and-or safer for the health,
but I have to do lots of reading and comparaision to know what best.
If anyone wants to find some down sides of a product,
it's always possible, there are not perfect products.
