Title: Beosound 5
Post by: duvi on 31 Mar 2024, 08:15 pm
Hi,

I'm Duvi and have just joined this forum. Does anybody have experience of the Beosound 5? What improvements can be made to bring it up to date?

Looking forward to getting other peoples opinions and help. Lots more questions to ask and hopefully being able to contribute too.

Vintage B&O equipment is great. In the 80's/90's I owned an 8002 turntable, Beomaster 6000 receiver and Beocord 8004 tape deck. All controlled with a single remote.
I currently own a Beocenter 7700 (receiver, cassette tape player, and turntable all in one chassis) and a TX-2 (linear tracking) turntable with a new Soundsmith SMMC-1 cartridge. Lovely stuff and good sounding.

Greatly admired the aesthetic design of their 70's receivers.  My college roommate still has a tangential tracking turntable from the 70's.
