This blogger suggests that folks continue listening to CD's until some watershed development in computer music. That is insanely out of touch with what's happening on the ground outside of the audiophile sphere.
I recently saw a statistic that said 60 percent of people under the age of X don't own a single CD. When the kids in high school (code for all people currently under age 30) get their hands on some disposable income they aren't suddenly going to forsake their iTunes library for a giant stack of CDs in the name of becoming an audiophile. As painful as it may be to admit, outside forces dictate the ground rules. Companies can either create products that improve the computer music experience or they can resign themselves to be niche players in a shrinking market.
