Love that DDA-100.  So pure, so simple.

John,
You know this is just a preview (of features, build and some company history), right?  Srajan's actual review of their sound and functionality will come later.  This is SOP.

Hi Ted, yes it is clear when you read it, that it is basically product info and pictures.

Lots of people have been looking for more.  Hopefully the review of the products will be coming.

DDA has a lot of power and needs AC.

The DDA is an interesting product, I can't wait to hear more about it from users.

Hopefully the full 6moons DDA-100 review will come sooner that later (a reference from their Amphion Ion+ indicated it would be included with the DDA-100 review).

I have received my black DDA-100 a few days ago.

It is fed through USB from a mac pro and driving a pair of UK AVI Neutron 5 bookshelf speakers.

The amp is still burning in, but first results are pretty encouraging. Very clean highs, powerful bass (maybe lacking a tad definition). I am less sure about the medium right now, but it is too early to tell really. Anyhow, the first impression is that Nuforce managed to reach an impressive level of performance considering the low price point.

In terms of looks and usability, the DDA-100 is both elegant and discrete. The recessed LEDs are a nice touch but limit a bit the ability to read the amp status from the side. I personally like this as a prefer low key displays.

The amp runs pretty cool. The box just feels a bit hot to the touch after running at level 60 (too loud for normal close distance listening) for 32 hours in a room at 30 degrees C. So it does seem well suited for a desktop amp where the distance to the user is often less than 1 meters or so.

For what it is worth, the reference system I am comparing this to is world class and several tens of times more expensive of course since it is made up of a Devialet D-Premier Air driving a pair of Wilson Benesch Vectors... so I am not expecting the DDA-100 to come really close but still, it is far from being ridiculous.

Cheers,
Bernard

bernadi, please do keep us posted as to how the DDA-100 breaks in  :thumb:

Personally I'm also interested in your impressions of the AVI speakers as fortunately I live just an hour drive from the U.S. distributor of AVI.  So I've heard the ADM9T's but frankly they cost an extra $900 to buy locally versus mail order and the Neutron 5 2.1 system fits my budget better (but then negates the need for another DAC).  Oh the quandries.

I can already answer the part about the Neutron 5. I bought them shortly after they were released, probably 3 years ago. At that time they were sold as standard bookshelf.

They are excellent little speakers. I used to use them with an excellent integrated Denon amp/SACD player and it did sound very good. Very clean highs and a surprising amount of bass. Now, there is a huge amount of competition in that segment, I wouldn't be able to tell whether they are still the best buy these days.

Anyway, I am listening to Hadouk Trio on them through the Nuforce as I am typing this and I like what I hear!

Cheers,
Bernard

I have now (re)started to use Pure Music (1.86) together with the DDA-100 and the AVIs.

Combined with the progress of the burn in, the sound is now a lot more relaxed and easy to the ear.

It is becoming very nice to listen to!

Cheers,
Bernard

I'm hoping the DDA-100 will take the HDP/Icon2 combo up a couple of significant notches (with more juice/grip on speakers, pure digital stream, and advancing design under it's belt).

The DDA-100 is replacing an Icon2 in my set up (with Nuforce speakers) and the result is clearly ahead. It is difficult to say what part results from the excellent Neutron 5 speakers though.
