He was a brilliant guitarist. There is a three CD set of Fleetwood Mac at the Tea Party. This is a live set recorded in Boston right about when "And Then Play On" can out. The concert is a tour de force of guitar mastery.
He started hanging out with Jerry Garcia who introduced him to an assortment of drugs. Peter was a fragile person and flipped out under the stress. He disappeared from the music seen for decades. When he came back he was a shadow of his former self. The only music tragedy I can think of that was worse was Jaco Pastorious.
