What is the "Extra" RCA port on Etesian for?

Klaus,

A few question regarding Etesian.

On Etesian, seems like it support 3 RCA input.   I found that there is a RCA port labelled "extra", what is it for?

See your post on another thread "Any reviews or feedback about the Etesian passive pre?".   You mentioned you use active switching.  What is the benefit of active switching over the mechanical switch?

My guess

1/ For active swtiching, there are lots of choice of relay.  You may use a relay with more than enough capacity to have effective no distortion.  Excellent sound quality can be achieved at low cost.
2/ When I open up Etesian, the relays are sealed.  So I think relays do not subject to deteriation due to mechanical wear out or oxidation.  I think the active design will have a longer lifespan, and little deteriation over time.

Klaus, is my theory make sense?  Are they the reason why you choose Active Switching?

I found out the answer today.

On the front plate, the selection of "Extra" is not printed.  In fact, you can choose from 4 sources.  So the extra is the extra source you can connect to Etesian.
