242 Boom Stand Brackets
« on: 12 Nov 2012, 01:01 am »
Anyone have a photo of the bracket installed?  Any advice on boom stands to buy or particulars to look for?  Any $25 boom stand from Amazon good enough?

Thank you.......

Hi Peter

I don't have any pics - sorry.  What boom stand is required is more a matter of what size of base you can tolerate and which panel you're putting on them (weight) as well as how high (stability) you need to raise them.

Thanks Bryan.  I guess I'll wait until they come (242) to order the stands to make sure.  Thought I would get a head start.

If they're just for 242's don't worry too much.   Pretty much any mic boom stand will work as long as the boom is at least 24" long so both brackets can hang on it.

Oh, I get it!  I was assuming there was a single bracket to slip the boom through more vertically.  It sounds like the boom will be horizontal with brackets slipping over it.  Thanks Bryan

Correct. You set up the boom stand like a T and there are 2 brackets on the rear of the panel that hook over the boom.

If anyone is interested, I ordered a couple of these:
http://www.amazon.com/Stage-Rocker-Powered-Hamilton-SR630220/dp/B0087UPRMQ/ref=sr_1_2?s=musical-instruments&ie=UTF8&qid=1352919517&sr=1-2

Interestingly, they were $13 and change yesterday.  Now they are $22.

I'll follow up with how they work for this purpose.
