Title: Works for me..!
Post by: Delta77 on 8 Jan 2020, 05:04 am
There is just something about this Zenwave, that has me intrigued..
So I bought a set of speaker cables, hoping to upgrade from a set of Mil.spec Silver coated copper cables..
I’m not gonna try to do a review, just be advised that these Zenwave speaker cables are staying in my system..

Then Dave was nice enough to let me try a few or his I.C.’s..
After a couple of rounds of swapping I.C.’s in and out , from DAC to AMP, I can’t seem to be without the D-3.5 in my system..
So yes, I bought a the set of D-3.5 rca cables..  They are staying in my system as well..!!

Some quick comments..
Softer on the ears on the top end, with a more detailed presentation..
Voices are more coherent, and easier to determine the placement of back up singers..
Slightly more expansive, and holographic soundstage..
I’m definitely hearing nuances, more clearly..
Saxophonist definitely sound more realistic..
Pretty much all instruments sound more true to life..
Feet are tapping..
I knew my system could sound better, and these cables did the trick..!!

One day soon, I hope to try one of Dave’s creations.

Could I persuade you to post a photo of your audio rack (or PM me)? It appears to be a bit different from most - plus I like the finish.

Thank you.

Michael

Have visited Delta 77 and heard his system, he has meticulously put together a very  good sounding  Hi-fi  system I enjoyed visiting him and listening to his system one of the two systems that I like very much the other being of another friend Alan Fong in Stockton who is also a high end dealer his speakers were the Trenner & Friedl Pharoah and Heed electronics  , most of his cabling was genesis & cardis in a near field listening  environment  :thumb:
Yes he has very nice and heavy  wood rack but  a bit over crowded with components

It’s a MDF cabinet with a 3” walnut slab on top, with one moveable shelf..
A custom wood guy around my area made it for $600..
The cabinet makes it difficult to swap out components and cables..
I am thinking of doing a DIY Timbernation Three Tier Shelf..
Or just pay the dang money for a Timbernation Rack..

That is a very nice looking cabinet Delta77!I removed the back off of my cabinet because swapping cables was a royal pain. But I don't like seeing the wires either.I've been mulling over customizing the back and attaching it in several sections with magnets.
I'm anxiously awaiting a pair of Dave's DSR ics myself.Once I heard them I had to have them.

I have an email out to Dave to demo his new ribbon UPOCC copper speaker cables. Just got my new Spatial M3's and looking for a great cable to complement them.

Very impressive. Looking at the photos, I never would have guessed the cabinet below the 3" slab was MDF. Which wood was selected for the veneer? [I have a hazy memory that you may have posted this before - perhaps in my thread about my search for a rack?]

Yes, I posted in a hurry this morning (pic of cabinet)..
The veneer is the same Black Walnut, it has Black Walnut trim as well.
The green is Turquoises is mixed with the epoxy to fill the cracks and what not..

I have Dark Purple "DOUBLE IMPACT SE" now, shows as black in a dark room..
Sold the Green speakers and subwoofer for $1,000 some one got a great deal..

Hope the speaker cables work out for you Audiisaurus!I was considering Spatial Audio but didn't think they would work in my room.I went with Tekton Impact Monitors. The only way I'll ever hear Spatials is to get myself to the audio show in Chicago.

I use Dave’s speaker cables and adore them. I’d love to try interconnects and pc at some point. I cry a little at the cost of cables 🤦‍♂️

Did you demo the speaker cables first jmolsberg? I emailed Dave and he said he would put a demo pair in the mail no questions asked or deposit nothing, That kind of trust is a rarity

i did not demo but was extended the same offer. I have Omega Loudspeakers and they were recommended by Louis and Dave - that was good enough for me. They replaced some very good sounding duelund cables. The Zenwave are more articulate and neutral, which was exactly what I was shooting for.
BTW i listened to the Spatials at RMAF and they are sweet!

Delta77,

I like your cable risers. I made a simpler version out of scrap pieces of walnut. I am getting more deluxe ones made out of scraps from a Claro walnut rack under construction. Cool look with risers matching the rack. And also affordable.  :thumb:

Thanks very much for your post Delta77 and everyone else!  :thumb:

Love that walnut slab! I have a bunch of 2+" thick claro walnut waiting for me to build a rack out of it!  :)

Good to hear... those ribbon cables take a LOT of labor to put together!

Dave,
Are these directional?

Dave,
Are these directional?

Not by geometry, but they were intended for signal to follow the direction of the writing on the label. They could be used the other way if required, it might take a couple days for them to adjust 100% but for demo purposes it won't make a major difference.

Hey Delta, were you old cables (Mil.spec Silver coated copper cables..) the Decware speaker cables by any chance? I ask b/c I'm using them and am between these SCR and SSR speaker cables from Dave as my next upgrade. I read that you're not doing a review but what would you say are the differences you hear between the SCR's and your old Mil.spec Silver coated copper cables?

Honestly , I put Dave's SCR-14 speaker cables in my system and have yet to pull them out.
There seemed to be an improvement , so I just left it at that..
I would say Tonally there was a slight improvement (not quite as sharp on the top end), I noticed some details that I have never heard before, also my Toes wouldn't stop taping for a couple of days.
I would have to put my old speaker cables back in, to give me more ammunition for more details to explain..

The Cable that I replaced was "CullanCable" Crossover Line With 10 awg Upgrade,
 Military Spec Wire
10 Awg 99.99% pure silver plated copper wires
Teflon Dielectric which is extremely Quick and accurate
Ferrite noise suppressor on each 10 awg wire
Teflon wrapped then covered with Techflex Sleeving
Completely Hand built from the Ground up
Made in the USA

I will Have to finish this post later.( at work)

Thanks for the additional information. I have the D4's for everything, love them, auditioned the silver ribbon pc and had never experienced anything like that. Unbelievable what it did in my system. I'm saving up my pennies now for one and if the speaker cables are anything like that experience I NEED them too!

Audiosaurusrex, how are you liking the cables? Did you get the SCR or SSR?

I wound up demoing the SCRs. Even within the break-in of my Spatial M3’s, the speaker cables were amazing. Unbelievably dynamic and revealing. They are so well made as well. I sent them back to Dave already but will try to purchase soon. I need 12ft so it’s gonna be a little while, maybe after tax day  :D
