X Omni in a large area?
« on: 12 Mar 2025, 01:00 am »
Good evening,
I am just getting towards the end of finishing my attic. (Finally) I am looking to put some X Omni speakers in a living area that is 20x40 and is irregular not the best set up for audio. The ceilings are 9’, but are dog eared to a 4’ hip wall. I am looking to just fill the room with music at a reasonable level for entertaining. I have the Encores already, but was thinking more omnidirectional speakers would do well. Has anyone used the X Omni vs encore for this purpose? Any recommendations or thoughts would be appreciated. I have a dedicated listening room, so just looking for quality sound around 70db in this area.

Thank you, Kelly

I never heard the X-omni, but they look like a good choice for that use case: the attic.

The Omnis will do well in filling the space.  You’ll need a sub if you want any real bass though.

The X-Omnis were my first build and yes they can fill a very large room if you use subs.   The picture is of the Omnis I brought to work for a speaker build competition, the area in back of the camera is open to the companies lobby and has about 6X the space you can see.   The Omnis, Encores with the OB subs shocked people with how much sound they could produce.

I have had them in several places I have lived but when installed in the Living Room at one the my bedroom was in back of the speakers, the sound difference was minimal compared to being in  front of them.  They image really well too.

Thank you, I plan on building 2 12” sealed servo subs as well.

The X-Omni's will work really well in that application, but that room size might swallow up the lower end. You might want to add some subs.
