XTC

We went to our old neighborhood hardware store the ohter day and XTX's "Dear God" was playing on the speakers.  I used to listen to XTX all the time.
I have not heard it for years and now I can't get it out of my head.  The production and sound quality on those albums is awesome as well as the music and lyrics!

There is a great documentary on XTC out there.  I think I saw it on Netflix.

That album Skylarking was recorded out of phase. It was released in phase and you owe it to hear it corrected. You can actually hear the bass lines in the new versionand they  are marvelous. Great album by the way.

I've always liked XTC songs and I must listen to them a lot because they're always popping up on my suggested play lists.  But I don't own a single album from them.  I imagine that's because although I really like their hits, Mayor of Simpleton being my fav, I don't really like the rest of their catalogue.  Why but an album you won't listen to more than a song or two when you can just stream the songs you like?  After posting that I wonder if I might have an LP or CD hiding in my unclassified pile of each.  They all look very neat and organized in their respective racks, but actually they're just randomly stacked from how they came out of the boxes in my last move.  Hmmm.

There's no bad place to start with XTC!  Virtually everything is great.  I suppose that Skylarking is a natural point to begin but Nonesuch is my favorite overall, and Apple Venus Vol 1 is wonderful, too.
