  • a riot is the language of the unheard- Dr. King

Every year for probably 30 years this has been at the top of the Xmas list for my wife and me.

This was my mom and dad's favorite Christmas album. It's mine too. I'm
pretty sure I've listened to it every Christmas since I was born. The Beach
Boys' Christmas Album is a close second.

Only one? OK, but ONE for during the day amidst the hustle and bustle of decorating and/or company:

Mas! A Caribbean Christmas Party

And ONE for the end of the night, relaxing by the fire, sipping a favorite nightcap:

Charles Brown's Cool Christmas Blues

Dean Martin - A Winter Romance

Released in 1959.  Winter themes with some Christmas songs sprinkled in, but definitely works as a Christmas album.  In fact, I think that's why I like it so much.  There are songs that fit the Christmas spirit here, but you won't here them anywhere else.

My Christmas music collection is vast, so rather than "slight" any of the major classics I have, I'll list a new one that I find delightful. It is a jazz harp album, quiet and contemplative. Everyone has their own particular "Christmas moods," but solemn and grateful seems to work best for me more often than not.

But, if you like your Christmas darker, there's always......
