My only daughter married a wonderful man last night.  After the bride and groom danced, we danced to Stevie Wonder's " Isn't she Lovely".  I've always liked that song, but now it has a special place in my heart.
What are some of the other father/daughter songs that are special to you guys?

Quite a few.  Currently, kind of partial to Darrius Rucker's "It won't be like this for long".

Congrats on your daughter's union.

Do granddaughters and granddads count?

I've told Myah, who's 6, that "Brave" by Sara Bareilles should be her anthem. She's very curious and willing to try new things, which I encourage.

Thanks for all the congrats.  I've been on the road for much of the day and just got home.  It's been a special weekend, and thought that other dad's (and grand dads) around AC would also have special songs they might share.

When my oldest got married it was down to two songs for the dance, Daddy's Little Girl by the Mills Brothers or I loved Her First by Blake Shelton. I settled on  The Mills Brothers, it fit me better.

For the Parents dance, we did Micheal Martin Murphy's,  What;s Forever For. Between us and the in-laws we had almost 80 years of marriage between us. We were at 32 years and they were 35.

At my daughter's wedding I chose , with her input,  the song Annabel by Don Henley. A powerful statement of a father's love IMO.

Something like this needs a refresh more often than every decade...
Our daughter is getting married early Feb and she's asking for ideas that are upbeat enough for more than a slow dance and won't ruin her makeup.  It doesn't take much to get either of us crying like babies.
Everything I come up with gets the water works going before I've gotten through the first line, sometimes the title reduces me to pudding.
Ideas?
These are the possibilities we've come up with so far but everything after "Send Me On My Way" fails the waterworks test.
"You've Got a Friend" or "How Sweet It Is To Be Loved By You", JT versions
"Send Me On My Way" Rusted Root
"Daddies and Daughters" Lee Roy Parnell (offered below that I really like)
"A Song For My Daughter" Ray Allaire
"Daddy's Little Girl" The Shires
"My Wish" Rascal Flats
"It Won't Be Like This For Long" Darius Rucker

Some James Taylor songs may fit as Handy Man or other.

Thanks much.  James Taylor is definitely in the running and I’ll add My Girl.  The daughter child has it on her list but I missed it.
