How good are the JBL 580 or 590?  Anyone own a pair?
I read the reviews on the JBL site but it’s hard to know if these are really good or not in a high end 2 channel system.

There's some mention here:

It sure would be nice to hear a pair before ordering, free shipping/returns or not.

The Omegas certainly beat having to wrestle a 50 lb. obelisk around the room.

Wayner has the 580's in his main system and gives good reports.

Wow. What a SMOKING deal! I have looked at these for awhile now and they have ALWAYS been $1600 for a pair. For $760, I would buy a pair if I didn't just buy my second pair of ZU Audio speakers. I literally just got done talking to Sean at ZU and they are shipping my speakers today! Why, why, why did I come visit this thread?!?!?! LOL  :D

They are very magical. Symbiotic horns, dual 6.5" woofers, bi-wired. Hooked up to my Sunfire II @6 ohms gets you around 500 Watts RMS per channel. I have them in tandem with a Acoustic Research/Sunfire ARS300 subwoofer. Very nice!

I owned a pair of 570 and then 580 for a couple of years.  Mated to tube and ss amps, they were better than any entry level speakers I had owned.  I went to the 580 for more bass but found the 570 was a tad smoother, more refined between the two.  I liked these more than some audiophile darlings like Vandy 2CE sigs mainly for classical which accounts for 80% of my listening.  The strings were more refined through the JBL horns, the Vandys were rough in that regard and that little midrange driver got very congested on orchestral peaks.  Same issue with Revel F12.  Bettered the Usher cp 6381 as well.
My current Kef R700 are better in all aspects than the 580, they should be given the price difference.
