Capacitor Upsize on Power End
« on: 10 Apr 2021, 02:21 pm »
I purchased a new pre amp from Musical Paradise that allows lots of tube subs as well as capacitors.

The input caps on the power side can go up to 10 UF.

I have read differing opinions on the web from the skeptics to the believers.

I am considering upgrading to the largest size and wanted to know if an “audio grade” capacitor will make a difference.

Right now I have some nice Clarity CMR caps rated at 2.2 UF in the pre in this position.

I have bee eyeing the Obbligato Ultra Premiums since they will fit.  The Mundorfs that I ordered were just too big for the box.

Any opinions please?  Is it something that I just go to Mouser for?

The Obbligatos that I mentioned are not terribly expensive from Parts Connexion when considering other choices.

For reference, I am using Jantzen Silver caps for output, but may change as well since they sound somewhat bright to me.

All suggestions are greatly appreciated and thanks in advance.
