***SOLD***: Audio GD SA-2 Reference DAC
« on: 10 Jan 2018, 10:38 pm »

***SOLD***

For sale is the Audio GD SA-2, a reference-level DAC in very good condition. A long scratch is on the top of the unit; otherwise it is clean. Includes a 1M Harmonic Technology Magic Audio HDMI cable for I2S which sounds exceptional with is DAC.

What makes this SA-2 distinctive is its dedicated discrete diamond differential design without any OPA and couple caps in the signal channels, and 4 pieces PCM1704UK chips that provide 32bit / 384K asynchronous transfer from USB-32.

The SA-2 is extremely overbuilt, weighs over 30 lbs, and uses 3 R-core transformers. There is a total of 20 groups dedicated power circuits (11 groups of high-quality class A parallel connection PSU with dedicated DC supply double-stage PSU power supply for digital parts, 8 groups discrete dedicated linear double-stage PSU power supply for analog parts) and more than 35,000uF caps are used to purify the power supply. The SA-2 uses high-end parts throughout and exact match transistors. The full new design DSP processor is solder on the main board direct for best signal transfer and faster process data and clock, and lower jitter performance. The SA-2 also benefits from two high speed diamond differential output circuits which creates excellent linearity and low phase distortion. Although the circuit is complex, the sound quality is quite impressive.

The documentation seems to suggest so: http://www.audio-gd.com/Pro/SA/SA2/SA2EN.htm

"Built in 4 Pieces  PCM1704UK Support up to 192KHz"

"The DSP digital processor can supports NOS, 2X, 4X and 8X oversampling customers setting."

I would love to hear this DAC some day - will probably set its own benchmark. Hope this finds a happy home.
