I meant where is the car used? If it's in the rural Northeast I would say both are a waste of money.

If it's used in a hot climate I would spend $10 for a DIY dash cover.

For the molding, look at the cars in a few mall parking lots and see how many have dings from doors hitting them. If it causes your blood pressure to rise put on side molding.
