A full loom of Hapa – adding Hapa speaker cables makes such a difference!

I recently asked Jason if I could try out the Torsion speaker cables. I had read about the jumpers in another thread, but missed the speaker cable tour a while back. The Torsion speaker cables were the only part of my signal cabling that did not have Hapa cable in place. I had previously purchased the silver Aero Ag USB cable, and then later added two sets of the Aero RCA copper cables connecting DAC to preamp and amp.  So I had all the wires carrying lower signal strength audio, the most critical segments in my mind (albeit one a digital cable), upgraded.

And the sound without the Hapa speaker cables was fantastic – startling clarity, full but nuanced bass, tonal balance, musicality, and more.

So, I asked myself: how much difference could a set of speaker cables make?  I already had very good speaker cables – high purity copper with Teflon.  But within a day or two after listening to the loaner Torsion copper speaker cables I felt like I was listening to a new system.  I could not believe how the “full loom” really delivered significantly better sound. There was something special about the full loom of Hapa – it was definitely more than the sum of the parts.  All the improvements in sound described above intensified. It was almost as if my old speaker cables were blocking complete realization of the improvements wrought by the upstream Hapa cables.

The Torsion speaker cables are very special, and are really valuable in realizing the complete expression of Hapa cable clarity and musicality.  It you can try them, especially with upstream Hapa cabling in place, I suspect you will be shocked – in a really good way.  The cables were a bit of a reach for me, but once I heard them I could not go back.  Of course, your mileage could vary, but I cannot imagine an experiment with greater upside potential.  Honestly, I did not expect this startling an outcome, and thought I would share. I had read several mentions of a Hapa full loom in this industry circle, but had not been moved to check them out until the Torsion jumper comments stuck in my head.  What a mistake!   :duh:
A mistake now happily corrected!   :D

Oh yea! I agree completely. I reviewed a full loom in March 2023, loved the Torsion.

Bill,
Thanks for sharing your thoughts!

I love it when folks go full loom in their system. I genuinely work really hard at getting things to sound as exceptional as possible. It isn’t always easy to know what type of sound people are chasing after, but I feel like going full loom is my highest expression of what I envision that represents the most engaging sound quality.

I know a few folks here who have a full loom as well. I’d love to hear what they think if they have the time.  :thumb:

  • Without music, life would be a mistake.
I have a full loom of Hapa cables that I built up slowly, over time, piece by piece, as I could afford it.  They do many things very impressively.  Like great tone.  And startling dynamics.  And microdynamic shading.

But the thing that was the most surprising to me is how much sludge they remove from the signal.  Every time I put in another Hapa cable, the music became less 'gray'.  The sound became more like a clear window into the recording.

Hapa does a neat trick - they increase detail and resolution enormously, and at the same time, they sound more relaxed than any other cable I've used.  That combination of strengths is VERY rare.  And it happens every single time you put in a new cable or the speaker wire.

In addition to design, construction, and aural quality, the other thing you get with Hapa is Jason, the owner of the company. He is absolutely committed to customer satisfaction, and I've found him to be a first-class human being as well as a top designer and artisan. Also...I've found that if you want something that's custom or for a special situation, he'll be glad to work with you to get you what you need.

Gents,
I appreciate the kind words! I just spent three days in product development hell. it's when you achieve something that transcends your prior design by a nice wide margin, while simultaneously being unlistenably flawed in ways that damage your brain and ego.  :duh:

Reading these comments is a great reminder of why I do this stuff! To improve the listening experience of my clients.  :green:

I worked on these cables at the same time as working on another clients single cable for a center channel. I used a new technique to attach the cabling to the center nylon spacer I use for the geometry and it works like a charm! Virtually invisible resin adds to the look of the cables.

Here are some pics:

Jason,

Are you hinting that these are not just ordinary Torsion speaker cables...that they're SUPER Torsion?  8)

Every set of Torsion cables is SUPER Torsion. The build on these ones is the new way of doing it, but it's the same badass insanely awesome speaker cable.  :icon_twisted:

Now, That said... There is something new to announce in the realm of speaker cables coming from out of Hapa Labs...  :shh: Maybe I'll be able to get to the announcement soon.  :green:

To loom or not to loom. That is the question.
Like Tyson, it has taken me a while to be Hapa throughout. Even to the extent of a Hapa jumper (which was an incredible upgrade).
I have had a lot of fun (and expense) getting to this point. I've even switched out previous product of Jasons to newer models
after comparison and couldn't be more satisfied with my system. Through listening I've ended up with all silver with the
exception of the SC and would have never thought that before hearing the Hapa line. We all gotta start somewhere be it a piece at a time
or whole hog but the reward at least for me has been well worth it.

Amended: I guess what I should have said was I didn't start off with the intention of using Hapa throughout. It ended up that way because
each time I sampled Jason's product it stayed. Through that process I ended up with a loom of Hapa.
