Up for sale is my DIY 'proof of concept' slot loaded open baffle woofers. The custom baffles each house a Dayton Pro Sound 15" woofer, model PA380-8, which are 8 ohms nominal. Dayton rates these speakers at 96.1 dB @ 2.83V/1M sensitivity along with a 500w RMS power handling capability. They have 3" voice coils and the Resonant Frequency (Fs) is a very low 31.6 Hz. They make use of an 80 oz ferrite magnet and bumped back plate; the motor system has a copper cap for reduced distortion.
I used these for the last 2 years as the bottom end to an all open baffle, multi-way system. They were crossed at 140 Hz, 24db per octave using an analog signal processor (not included in sale) with 4dB boost at 35Hz. They produce very fast and articulate bass, and really excel with acoustic jazz, vocals, and classical. You will need to supply crossover, amplification, etc.
They measure a very compact 21" x 21" x 8" deep, and are probably among the smallest slot loaded open baffle woofers built. The baffle was constructed with 3/4" maple veneer plywood (void free) using Kreg joints and screws and is doubled up with 5/8" MDF on the back, and an additional 5/8" MDF rounds out the slot valance. The slot opening is 5" x 7".
The woofers and baffles will be shipped via FedEX ground. They are fairly heavy, about 35 lbs each. Please note these are DIY quality and exhibit some wear and tear, imperfections, etc. but look very presentable overall. The rear baffle was re-purposed which speaks to the extra holes, etc. Sale includes woofers and baffles only, as displayed in the pictures.
