Okay guys, the drawings for the Wedgie Base are here: http://www.gr-research.com/pdf/Wedgie%20base.pdf

Danny,

Would this same width work for two 12" drivers or would the front have to be wider since the 12's have a 6.5" mounting depth vs the 8's 5" mounting depth?

The same width will work for the 12's.

Hello AC. Here is my version of the U-frame to my 12". It is 27.95" tall inclusive the foot, and about 3" wider and deeper than Dannys design to the 8". The sides is 10 degree. In the next weeks I will make test cabinet to some 4" Tang Band full range drivers 4 per side, it`s to get music now. I dont no yet what I will use in the end, to midrange and tweeter, because the speakers will be placed close to the frontwall and the top cabinet have to be sealed.
Perhaps there are space for the A370 in the the sides, but I dont no how far the amp have to be placed from the drivers.

Thanks.

The sides look a little tricky becouce in the first, the sides were not wide enough, so I hade to give it ¾" more MDF.

Have you had a chance to listen to them?  If so, how do they compare to the 12s in the "H" frame?

Thanks,
Ed

Danny,

The front looks like it is only 3/4" thick, is this correct?

Also, how thick are the top, bottom and braces?

I designed it all to be made from 3/4" MDF. The sides are two layers thick though.

Well I am not Danny, but my new 12" U-baffel design I use ¾" in top, butten, brace and front and it is fine. There is only few vibration in this design. It`s another story with the H-frame.

Thanks.

Glad I asked. I got the parts for the sides rough cut and laminated up last night but hadn't cut the rest of the parts yet.

Danny,

Another clarification question. It looks like the 10 degree cuts are on the front end of each side panel, the two long edges of the front panel, and the ends of the rear spacer.

Are the rear ends of the side panels left at 90 degrees or do they also have a 10 degree cut?  If they do have a 10 degree cut, is that cut oriented opposite the one on the front end of the side panel?

I like the base but,
Why not use a solid brace in the middle?
Open baffle, right?

Neil, I have made the brace in this way, so I have the chance to integrate the amps in the rear, and to ensure airflow. But I dont no were to place the amp yet, maybe on one of the sides.

Yes, The angle is on both ends and they are in parallel.

So long as the magnet of the woofer is not right up on the power supply for the amp then you're fine.

Danny,

I have a couple of questions on the design.

1) What size radius did you put on the top edges

2) How far do the feet extend both in front of and to the sides of the cabinet? I'm trying to determine what size piece of wood to start with.

Thanks,

Mike

I used a 3/8" radius

Mine started out 15" wide and 14" deep.
