Title: MiniDSP or Hypex Monitors?
Post by: Rick Craig on 14 Jan 2016, 02:39 pm
Some new ribbons arrived and I'm designing a passive 2-way for a customer. While waiting for the passive components I decided to hook up the monitor with my MiniDSP 4x10HD and bi-amp them with a simple DSP crossover (I didn't even take any measurements - just some rough settings).

Scary good.

I should send you my Hypex DLCP to play with.

Too bad they haven't released the DLCP in a packaged product. They seem to be lagging behind MiniDSP in that regard.

Using one plate amp to power both speakers would be the cheapest route. You would still need a passive crossover, but could do baffle step and other filters in dsp to make the speakers very good with just a little tweaking.
