NEW CAPS ????

 :D HI EVERYBODY ,,  i'm selling my old RM-9 MK1 amp and a guy tells me
      it will need caps replaced soon ,, is this a general rule for an older tube amp ??
          caps are cheap ,, right ??  :)    it has a full compliment of NEW tubes right fron Rogers shop.
               is 1500.00 an ok price ????  i really don't need this amp. right sizing and moving..

 :D  i should call Roger i guess.  :D   wish i knew more about amp building maintenance and longevity  .... :D

It's generally a good idea to replace at least the electrolytic capacitors in the power supply. Those can fail due to age and take out other components with them.

Quality caps should last at least 20 years, but they can sometimes last much longer. Junk caps can last as short as 5 years. Of course Music Reference uses high quality caps. Good caps with high voltage rating for tube amps can be kind of expensive, and they do make a difference in SQ, so definitely refer to Roger's advice on when they should be replaced and with what parts.
