The problem of limited vertical dispersion of the ribbon tweeters in the original version was addressed, per Mr. Cheney's suggestion, by adding a second tweeter. Later top of the line VMPS models addressed this problem by making the ribbon tweeter aimable. These speakers require three stereo amps and a three way electronic crossover. The amps are not included but a preconfigured Behringer DCX2496 crossover/DSP unit is, as well as a passive blocking unit using Auricap blocking caps to protect and properly load the ribbon tweeters. If you bring your amplifiers I can use my PC based measurement system and measuring microphone to dial in the DCX2496 for your equipment.

You are entirely correct.  They are indeed FF1 SRE speakers, as a Monsoon based STIII SRE's never really existed, other than in illustrations.  Only the Bohlender based STIII SRE's were built.  Brian may have designed them, but to the best of my knowledge, none of the Neo Monsoon planar mid versions were ever built. 

As to the above, I post the ads as I find them.  As such, that should give a lot of room for negotiating the price of the speakers for sale.

I see you have a pair. Do they have the @Corian (ATH) front baffle? Not to many were made, ay? Fewer than the RMx or the
WRRM.
450-500 lb ea? 1500 lb.,3/4 of a ton crated and palletized. I bet they sound wonderful. Serious gear to push those, what do you use to run them on, if I may ask? SS, Valve, combo? I've never seen a pair for sale, that's for sure. Your the original owner?

Yes these are the synthetic granite ones, I think they were in the 550lb per side area and luckily I haven't had to move them more than a few inches once they were placed. I run 60 amps of Cinepro Balanced power feeds to Cinepro SS amps with 1800 watts per side - plenty of dynamics!  While that may be overkill the woofer column just seems to need serious reserves of power to really shine. Even Brian told me to try and have at least 250 (preferably 500) watts to the woofers for best results.  This pair I bought from Anthony Cordesman (The Absolute Sound, High end reviewer for Audio, Stereophile) after he had reviewed them and kept them as his reference for a year or so. I knew Anthony both from his audio work and professionally in his real job so when he mentioned they would be available I jumped on it.  The frame around the ribbon was cracked on both (still is) so he gave me a hell of a discount. Spent some of the "remodel the bathroom" money at the time but I was between wives so at least I didn't get bitched at but it would have been worth it even if I was
