Growing up in North Dallas in the 50's, R&B was the youth music of that time and place. I have a (The) Clovers' greatest hits CD in my car. Boz Scaggs and Steve Miller grew up there, too. Miller did a cute take of Johnny Guitar Watson's "Gangster of Love" on his first recording. R&B ruled! Square girls were listening to the likes of Buddy Holly and the Everly Brothers and so on. Dallas had radio programming at the time devoted to R&B. Here's a Boz Scaggs release that just nails what I'm talkin about . . "Come on Home" on the Virgin label. Grrreat covers of great R&B tunes . .
