One of the participants in the thread, a seasoned audiophile, insists that the Overdrive SE sounds better on ordinary redbook recordings than other DACs sound playing DSD files. Yes, it is that good. He has since upgraded to the SX, though he maintains that the SE is better than those other top tier DACs sound using DSD.

This Overdrive is a fully loaded SE, with the Paul Hynes regulators, upgraded CUTF coupling caps, a 1 meter Polestar USB cable, and the Short Block USB filter. You can read all about it on the Empirical Audio web site, or in any number of glowing reviews. A fully loaded SE with all the extras would run in excess of $9,000. Steve is backed up on orders, so you would have to wait several months to get one if you ordered now. You can get this one right now with all of the accessories for $3700.
The DAC is in perfect working order, but will be checked over by Steve and shipped directly from Empirical Audio. I checked with Steve today, and it will be sometime in October before he will be able to ship, but it will be more than worth the wait to get this DAC at this price.
