Tube swap on Chime
« on: 31 Aug 2009, 08:05 pm »
Is the tube swap mentioned in this article as good of an upgrade as the reviewer claims in this article? Anybody out there tried it?

'I swapped the stock Electro Harmonix tubes out for a pair of Telefunkin's and a Mullard GZ34 rectifier tube. The tube swap alone was like listening to an entirely different piece of gear.'

Sorry I missed this previously. My Chime is the octal version so I use a 12ax7, a 6SN7, and a GZ34 0r Bendix 6108. In my opinion a Telefunken, Mullard, Bugle Boy or Brimar 12AX7s all work extremely well. See the comments regarding NOS tubes for the Cornet. All comments are applicable  here. Enjoy
