Can PCM Be Converted To DSD?
« on: 12 Mar 2013, 02:03 pm »
I'm curious if 176.2 PCM files can be converted to DSD?  In particular, I'm curious if those tracks purchased from HDTracks that were converted from SACD masters can be converted back.

I'm sure there are multiple layers of ignorance in my question, so please take it easy on me.   :icon_lol:

Audiogate will convert PCM to DSD...but there is no "going back" as far as HDtracks DSD-to-PCM conversions.  It was not a lossless conversion.  All you are doing is taking a downconversion and putting it in a DSD container.  The conversion anomalies are still there.  The "damage" (too harsh a word) has already been done.

Oh well...there goes that theory.

Thanks for the reply, Ted.
