Would the Super Vs work in a small room?
« on: 20 Dec 2011, 09:27 pm »
Ive been seriously thinking about pulling the trigger on the Super Vs but my listening room is only 12x11, would they even work well in a room so small?

Not a problem. They will work well in a small room so long as you can get them at least 3 feet out from the back wall.

Being open baffle, they will not load the room like a typical speaker. And with the controls that you have on the servo amp, you can easily balance them in any room.

Hi Danny, 3 feet from the wall to the front of the speaker or the back?

3 feet from the back of the speaker to the wall. Every speaker greatly benefits from being pulled into the room, but it's a bit of a must with some designs.

How far back would your seating be from the speakers?

Nearfield is no problem with these speakers. I have been playing with set up and they are SUPER versatile

I'm running V1s in a 12.5'x10.5' room, my setup is in a ~6' equilateral triangle, sounds fantastic, great bass!

Best,

Personally I'd want two feet or more.

I had this odd, but perhaps functional, idea to put some wheels on a V1, V2, (V3) type open baffle speaker so that I could push the out of the way when not in use. My super sandbox subwoofer has wheels (thankfully). But wheels are so... not spikes.

For the spacing out from the wall - Could you simulate some of that by treating the rear wall?  IE install 4" of cotton insulation from floor to 2' above the speaker and a couple feet to each side.

I believe Guy 13 has his V1 and V2 on wheels.
