Hi all,

Would a Powerplant 3 have sufficient capacity to drive this combination of Bryston systems: BDP-3.14/BHA-1/4B3?

I live in the Netherlands so the mains voltage is 230v. The Powerplant 3 can deliver 10A at this potential.

I think my 4B3 might draw up to 5A, but I only listen at moderate sound levels out consideration for my neighbours.

The BHA-1 & 4B3 are never powered on at the same time.

TIA

Shaun

the bha-1 draws 0.5 amps and i would imagine the bda-3.14 draws no more than that.  the 4b3 draws less than 3 amps when pushing 300w @8 ohm. these are all at 120v wall voltage.  at 220v, you pull almost half of those numbers.

The question remains:
Why would you do something like that for any Bryston component?

You should be fine if you connect the 4b3 to one of the high current un-regenerated outlets. You can also post this question in PS Audio's user forum on their website. I'm sure there are EU users that could contribute meaningful responses. https://forum.psaudio.com/

I've got a PS Audio P3 as well as Audience and Shunyata power conditioners and I would suggest the P3 isn't the only power conditioning product you should consider. What problem (if any) are you trying to correct? The P3 is a fine regenerator for the price but it isn't necessarily the best sounding power product for every component or situation.

I recommend a P5 (or higher) if you can find one.

Given that where I live power surges are extremely rare I’ve decided to buy a BR-20 instead.

Bryston supplies are designed to withstand substantial main potential variation anyway, so power conditioners are really only useful for protection against power surges.

Thanks for your observation
