Danville Signal Axpona 2024 Demo
« on: 5 Apr 2024, 06:10 pm »
Hi Everyone,

Last year at CAF, Rich did a Magnepan MG10QR + open baffle subwoofer demo. This demo was received well.

At Axpona this year, we are actually doing something a little different.

We have a pair of Magnepan 1.7i speakers that we can switch from Passive to Active operation using a dspNexus 2/8 and Audio Weaver.

Obviously a subwoofer could be added later, but in this demo we are just using the 1.7i and leaving the subwoofers at home.
I think you will find it an interesting comparison

Please join us at Axpona in Room 356.

The Magnepan 1.7i's with the AB demo of passive vs DSP crossover is up and running in the Danville Signal room356.

Stop by for a listen to the setup Tom Martin and The Audio Belle talked about in the TAS video.

Response from Cynthia, The Audio Belle on YouTube to the Magnepan 1.7i AB comparison was it was a night and day difference, she could not believe the difference between the original passive crossover and the DSP crossover versions.

Works for me! :)

maty,
Thanks for posting the video!

My new way of describing this is that any sufficiently advanced technology will replace the standard.  We are now at that point for music and speakers with DSP crossover processing using the dspNexus 2x8.

It was very easy to hear for anyone in the room when I was there. The latest Danville device is really nice. Imagine active 3.7's or 20.7's  8)

TomS,
Thanks for stopping by for the demo!  Glad you could hear the AB.

Your idea depends on Magnepan or owners wanting to try the system.  If they do introduce the open architecture version, Magnepan is 45 minutes from Danville.  They just need to drive them over to measure!   :D

I would like to thank everyone who visited the Danville room this year.  A number of our early adopters visited and I definitely appreciated the unscripted testimonials.
I also want to thank the press who took the time to visit our room and have shared their thoughts.

Our plan is to support the entire Magnepan line as well as loudspeakers from other manufacturers.

Our mantra is that we can turn a good loudspeaker into a better loudspeaker. I think we clearly demonstrated this with the Maggie 1.7i demo.

Next show stop is the Munich High End Show in May.

Skol!

Al
