AXPONA 2019 and HAL
« on: 4 Apr 2019, 09:26 pm »
Have been invited by Danville Signal Processing to setup The Monoliths in their demo room 358 at AXPONA 2019.

This is a new set of cabinets that Danville has painted in the colors they wanted for the show.

The cabinets are now finished and they are doing installation of the drivers and planar and sub wiring.

I will be bringing the new HAL MS-5 Music Server to run the system.

Great seeing folks at AXPONA 2019.   Got to see corndog71 today for listening to The Monoliths speaker system.

Glad he liked the system sound!

I recently finished building the big brother of the Monolith system from a kit provided by GR Research.  The Super-7 is a supreme speaker system and while mine are still breaking in and unfortunately hampered temporarily by my crappy apartment they still project a big soundstage with the speed of electrostatics but super smooth.

Nevertheless, the Monolith system with electronic crossover and room correction blew me away with it's holographic soundstage that belied it's modest design.  The custom Neo3/Neo10 combo just disappear leaving only the music behind and the open baffle servo subs blend perfectly.   I believe I heard a standing bass in the demo and I could hear the strings and body of the instrument in a way most speakers just can't reproduce.  I could easily live with this system and highly recommend it!
