  Forgive my ignorance but I wish to know  if the bp17  has a polarity reverse feature. My bp25 has a toggle switch  and it looks like the 17  may do it with buttons ...can't tell for sure  . I have found this freature to be very useful...thanks

No, the BP173 does not have polarity reverse.
My BP-26 does.

I think with the BR2 remote you can reverse phase on the BP-17 - I will check.

Is this something we should have on the BP18?

IMO, it's a toss up.  I have it on my BP-26, but seldom use it, except on a few poorly-recorded 16/44.1 CDs
So far, I haven't missed it on my BP17c preamp.

It might be my choice of CDs, since I only play classical and organ CDs. No digital, hard rock, heavy metal performances.
Others, specifically Redbook and Elizabeth can honestly disagree, as they both do use it.

BTW:  James, you've said the BP18 will be a combination of the 26 and the DAC-3. Since the 26 has Polarity reverse, inclusion shouldn't be an issue.

As a happy and content owner of a BP25 that does notice a difference with the polarity/invert setting I think you should include it on the BP18.  When I'm browsing PreAmps that is the first thing I look for, if it doesn't have it I'm not interested.
