PRA-9X Preamp
« on: 16 Feb 2023, 10:51 pm »
Hi, I’m considering the Nuprime PRA-9X Preamp to drive my NAD C298. Firstly has anyone tried that combination? Also, I’m perplexed at the design choice to have fixed and variable output. The fixed output is at half volume, would this be sufficient to use as a H/T bypass? Other than a dedicated H/T bypass this unit ticks all the boxes for me and looks fantastic!

If you don't need it, don't bother with it. It is a requirement from some distributors, probably for people who want to use an external volume control and just use PRA-9X as a high-end switch.

I have been telling customers that for state-of-the-art preamp design, we use digital control with memory retention (that means you can fix the volume at any level) to control the analog volume circuit, to achieve BEST OF BOTH WORLDS.

PRA-9X preamp is even better than the $3000 Nuforce P-9 and all preamps in the same price range. We "over-designed" PRA-9X for the 9 series  :thumb:

Thanks for the reply. Is volume memory assignable to specific inputs?
