New Steely Dan Album on Tuesday....

Still one of my favorite Bands! Lets hope this album is more consistent than the last one.

Any other Steely Dan fans out there? You either hate them or love them.

Bill,

This vinyl junkie is waiting for a copy of the European release on the 12" round thing. I've got a mint copy of every Steely Dan release on vinyl, although haven't been able to fine"Two Against Nature"album, so this will continue to fill out the collection.

A lot of live cuts from what I understand and all recorded with analog equipment. Should be good listening.

BTW, my wife still won't let me open my birthday box package from Eighth Nerve.

That $99 price has to be due to its being the last copy????
There are some similarly high prices on Acoustic Sounds or another site for final sealed copies of MFSL.

Does anyone know if this new Dan is in SACD?

Also coming out on Tuesday is SRV Couldn't Stand the Weather in 5.1 SACD.

I believe it will be out in hi rez MC right away, but the last Steely Dan album was a DVD-A release. I love my DVD-A copy of Two Against Nature, and I'd say aside from the great music it's also one of the best sounding recordings I've ever heard in any format.

No SACD as the Dan are on Warner Bros. who is commited to (and one of the major backers of) DVD-A.

If you go over to the Steely Dan website, you can listen to the whole album today and try before you buy.

Uh....on first listen, the songs sound kind of comatose and dare I say boring.

Lets hope this one grows on me. They always seem to...but I just wish the music was a little more raw and less glossy.
