Very cool and interesting stuff James!! It's always nice to see a Canadian company acquire another Canadian company instead of letting the IP get bought out by an overseas conglomerate. Personally I have never heard of Magnum Dynalab but now that I checked out their website I definitely have seen their tuners for sale in the past; had no idea they also made amplifiers and streamers.

Just to clarify, because the wording in the memo is a bit convoluted, is Colquhoun acquiring Magnum Dynalab in its entirety after the transitional period? So under the parent company that is Colquhoun there will be bryston, axiom, and now Magnum Dynalab? If so that's definitely exciting stuff.

Yes that is correct - all three companies will be under the CH Audio but run independently going foward.

Interesting stuff, James.
As someone who has owned Bryston gear for about 30 years,(In one form or another.),It's great to see another Canadian company being saved from the scrap heap.
It's sad that most of these high-end audio companies have decided to manufacture in Asia. I realize they do it as a cost-cutting measure but I have found that for the most part the quality is not there. As they say-you get what you pay for..
I  personally own a Magnum Dynalab Etude FM tuner, which I sent back to them about a year or so ago to have them rebuild it as it was about 30 years old at the time . Now works as good as new and should function for many more years. FM radio has gotten a bad rap over the years for terrible sound but if you have a good tuner,(Like my Etude is), you can really pull in some quality signals. There's still a lot of free information and music on the radio today.

Hi James

Excellent news.  Excellent brand.  I look forward to see what new products may evolve in the future.   Perhaps a tuner option for the BR20?

Cheers

Congrats!   I have the MD-90 tuner and had it serviced before Covid.   The owner (and his dog) fixed it for me on the spot.   Nice guy!   Looks like the group of companies now have tube technology.   Should be interesting if the tuners will be sunsetted.....

Cheers

It will be interesting to play around with the Tubes as they have a new Tube Preamp and a new Tube/SS hybrid amp. :thumb:

I auditioned their MD309 integrated amp at home a few years ago.
Though I went in another direction with my eventual purchase I still strongly believe I would have been happy with the big MD had I chosen it.

Congrats James, MD makes fantastic tuners!

Interesting that Colquoun/Bryston was the Canadian company to jump in here as I believe that Magnum Dynalab had at one time,
a working relationship with Simaudio.

It was my understanding the Sim built the amplification sections in the MD receivers, like the MD208.
