Hi guys, Ed (ebag4) here, I haven’t been around much for the last several years, work/life etc. However I have recently retired and hope to be much more active in this circle and AC overall moving forward.
My son’s soon to be father in law and I were talking a few months ago, this was the first time I had really been able to speak with him at length. Knowing I was into building speakers he asked me if I had ever heard of this guy Danny recording videos regarding speakers, I told him that I had built several of the GR Research designs and that they had all sounded very good. He indicated that he had been looking at the XLS Encores, but in his current condo situation he didn’t have a shop any more. Odd coincidence that he was familiar with GR.
I decided to build him a pair of cabinets, since I was fairly certain I was going to paint these I decided to miter all the joints to eliminate the possibility of telegraphing the seams that show up with butt joints. Rather than drag out the paint rig for small cabinets I used rattle cans for this, Rustoleum primer and Behr black matte, I really like the was it lays down.
I went ahead and added the no-rez, (special thanks to Zumba (Mike) for providing the no rez), and drilled it for tube connectors.
This is a surprise, he doesn’t know they are in the works, hope he likes them.
Take a look:
Looks like I should have cleaned my fingerprints off before taking the pics!
Thanks for looking.
Best,
Ed
