Yes. I have followed the instructions. Put a tick beside bda2 and hit Apply. The bdp1 plays the dsd file but no sound comes out. Do I kiss anything or bda2 not support dsd.

BDA-2 isn't dsd capable

Sorry, we looked into it, but an ic responsible for the ultra low jitter hinders dsd capability

Hi,

Just started using Tidal on BDP1 connected to BDA2 via USB and AES.

I cannot get output from the AES connection, within the Tidal app on the BDP tried selecting different output options but sound only comes from USB?

Share Port (airplay) sound only comes from USB despite changing output in audio devices?

Is this normal, am I doing something wrong

In Tidal settings only take effect until the next song is played or in the case of quality (lossy vs lossless), two songs.

The 3rd party renderers default to USB if a USB dac is connected during startup.

Chris

Thanks Chris for reply,

The BDP booted with Tidal settings set to "ESI Juli@ ice 1724 iec958" audio played from USB, then swapped to "ESI Juli@ice 1724" no sound nothing

With shairport how do you get usb not to be the default setting, and output to aes

Thanks, please advise

I'm thinking about looking around for a well priced s/h  BDP-1 (having owned a BDP 2 previously) for a second system

Is the following correct about the BDP1 in relation to my experience with BDP-2:

can run the very latest version of  MM software as per BDP-2
can output DSD 64 and 128 (via USB, BNC and AES?)
cannot be fitted with internal drive
can rip files from a BOT or similar proving independently powered, but not load CD into memory for replay
the lack of memory will not prevent replay of large files (e.g. .dsf) from thumbdrive?

Thanks

The BDP-1 will work with the latest versions of Manic Moose, but support will likely get cut from Nutty Narwhal (the next release).
It will output DSD via USB only and not BNC or AES, this is a function of the new audio output device
It will play audio cd's with a BOT or USB optical drive
The size of the music file has no bearing on limitation, the number of files could effect how well the native web interface functions

Also if your unaware we have released a new unit the BDP-Pi which retails at $1295.

Cheers,
Chris

Only the Otter is eligible...can be found in Canada.  :green:
The others are not eligible -- found only in S. America, Texas, and Africa.
(Narwhals are good -- sometimes spotted off BC coast in Pacific).  :thumb:

Ornery Otter is the current plan, but as it's a version of the firmware that is 2-4 years away from existing it'll likely change

Thanks Chris,

As I recall, my BDP2 did output DSD over spdif, before I upgraded to the IAD, so I imagined the BDP1 would too.
Will the BDP1 rip CDs as well as replay from a BOT or similar?

yes, we've also added an option to turn off some of analyzing tools to speed up the process of ripping significantly on the BDP-1

I'm trying to get into the Admin settings for my BDP-1 and I don't remember what the login or password is.  Is there a default I can try.  I'ts been a very long time since I got in and wanted to update my firmware.

My build is Loony Loon 0.16.6

Thanks,

Mike
