Finally. I got it working. I had to go into Audio Devices and enable the BUC card. I'm now listening to some 96/24 songs. Sounding pretty good :)

So does the BDP have to go through that long boot up sequence every time you toggle the power button? The power toggle seems to act more as a hard on/off switch performing a full system boot each time rather than the typical standby where a unit would be on and ready in just a couple seconds or so. It must take the better part of 60 seconds to get to the ready stage.

HI Rod

Yes it must go through a complete start up (reboot) - I typically leave mine on unless I am away from listening for a few days.

The BUC card? Would this be the new Integrated audio device James? Intriguing!

Cheers!

can the new audio card be installed into a BDP-1, or is it only for the 2?

thanks.

Hi Guys,

Just received my Bryston BDP 1 today.  The quality of the unit looks fantastic, especially, in comparison to some of my other gear.

From reading the setup manual it looks like the only way I can use my iPad to remotely control the BDP 1 occurs if I hard wire a cable using the ethernet connection to a wireless router.  The issue I have is my wireless router is in another room and I don't really want to run a cable 30 feet.

Just wondering if there are any other options I can use to operate my iPad.

Thanks for your help.

Regards Rod

Hi Rod,

Your next best option is to use a powerline av kit

http://www.amazon.ca/Linksys-Powerline-Network-Adapter-PLEK400/dp/B006JG5S6K

They range in speed, most common are 200mbps and 500mbps

The next best solution would be a wireless bridge.

Cheers

Hi Guys,

Okay so I bought a power line network adapter which was very easy to setup and works perfectly.  I'm using mPad which also has worked perfectly with the bryston usb which was supplied.  I have been able to load some a couple of albums of music on this usb and it also is fine.  Having problem though with the usb hard drive which had about 50 cd's of music ripped to it.  The usb was recognised by the BDP 1 but after over one hour it still hadn't uploaded the music.

Any ideas?

Cheers Rod

I've read where the initial database building can take some time, but that's usually with people who have thousands of CDs ripped. I've also read that there are some brands of drives that have comparability issues, though i don't know which. You might reply with the make/model of yours.

Computers some times have problems with devices that are plugged in (or powered on) AFTER the computer is booted up. Do you have the external drive powered up and plugged in before you power up the BDP-1?

You should check disk information to ensure your USB hard drive is being recognized

My BDP-2 does not recognize any of my three DACs (BDA-2 and two DSD capable DACs) in “Audio Devices” but this does not stop it from playing  files through them (including DSD files).
What is likely to be the reason for the non-recognition?

Are you connecting via AES, BNC or USB? As far as I'm aware your DAC will only be listed as a separate audio device if you connect via USB.  But if you are not using USB, then it's interesting you are getting DSD replay.
