VR4Jr spikes thread size - 3/8" or 1/4"?
« on: 2 Mar 2017, 02:33 pm »
Hi all,

My VR4Jr is the first generation (I guess it is called MK1) which the cabinet is made in China. The original spikes are broken for sometimes and I want to replace them. Does anyone know whether they are 3/8" or 1/4"?

Thanks in advance.

Hi scp2, Thanks. Actually I am now using the Herbie Von Schweikert Special Fat Dots and the giant Gliders for a few years already. The original spikes were very poor quality and they were bent and broken after a few months of use. Now I want to try something else with threaded spikes so I need to know the thread size.

Hi Tone Depth,

Thanks. I had purchased some M8 spikes before I got the Herbie products and they did not fit. So I do not think they are M8.

I read somewhere in VSA threads that someone said that he carried some 1/4" black spikes which were made in China for early batch of 4Jr but I cannot find it now. At the same time I also read somewhere (cannot remember where) that they are 3/8".

I need to make sure I get the correct thread size info before trying some new spikes. Could someone please help? Thanks in advance.

..my VR5 Annie footers have M8 threads.  Albert has some very nice titanium spikes with M8 threads but you need to call VSA and confirm the thread on your 4 jrs..
