So yeah I was planning on ordering some custom tri traps pin order to reach the ceiling (10.5ft high), but after this first batch I’m afraid this is not going to be so simple anymore…

What do you guys think? That’s not supposed to be normal, is it?

Hi David,

We see this a lot. Most likely cause is that the floor in the corner is not flat. That's really common, especially in older houses. Solution is to use shims underneath the bottom Tri Trap. Use enough of them so that the bottom tri trap is level (flush up into the corner at full height), then you can stack the other one on top.

I'd shim them both, otherwise the bottom set will be very obvious to the casual observer.

Thank you for replying guys. I’m already using a shim on the bottom trap at each corner of the room so that it doesn’t look too bad from the listening position. There is also a 13’’ concrete slab underneath the flooring of my industrial loft 🤷‍♂️.



Perhaps it’s just me but even when looking at just one trap directly I can see a nice curve/arc. It doesn’t have to be sitting on the floor and it’s pretty obvious. 6 out of 6 traps..

Ok I’ll try more shims but i’m not convinced.

Just wanted to share that I’ve been exchanging messages with GIK and so far they have been very helpful and accommodating. I’m happily surprised

I have the TriTraps and know what you are describing. I have had them stacked two-high in three rooms, always on carpet. In all cases the bottom trap leans "forward a bit". The stacked unit leans forward a bit more giving the impression of curving. Have not stacked them on bare, hard floors. Since I live in earthquake country I needed to tie them to wall to keep them from tumbling. This allowed me to also pull them back into the corner for a better fit.

How are these panels trapping any bass when they are what looks to be less than an inch thick?

Uh these are triangle traps that fit in da corner.
I believe they are 23.5”x16.5”x16.5”.
Of course they are Thin at the outside corners.
Do a search,perhaps GIK Acoustics site will Tell you the Dimensions.

Are you sure? They look 2 dimensional from the pictures. What are stuffed with? If they are 3 dimensional why is it so hard to fit them, no mass?

Perhaps the floor is not level .....corner walls not level.
They are stuffed with BS, what else would be in there.

If they are placed on carpet, the carpet tack along the walls will through them off. You need to counter the carpet tack with shims of some type.
