Fostex drivers
« on: 13 Mar 2023, 12:33 pm »
Hi all, I'm new here and about to build some enclosures for the 208 size fostex drivers.
I will start with a open baffle for some testing. The manufacture has plans for the boxes they recommend
but does anyone here have ideas about other designs that they have tried?

Check out the designs from our fellow AC member 'planet10'' on his frugel-horn websites:

I built 3 of his designs for Feastrex driver (not Fostex) and they sounded excellent.

The Fostex recommended horns are mefdiocre at best.

The FE206, FE208e∑ really want to be in a horn, Dallas II, Kirishima on the frugal-horns site that richadoo posted.

In my opinion all Fostex suffer from midrange thinness, except for the F200a (which is no longer in production).  The F200a uses as AlNiCo magnet, is very heavy, and when last available cost $575 a piece.  I use them in transmission lines, inspired by Martin King, built by Bob Brines in 2004.
