M165 OR NEO10
« on: 14 Apr 2012, 08:27 pm »
Hey Danny , i have a question. if it came down to having to decide on one or the other, would you go with a pair of the neo10 or a pair of the m165-16 drivers?
to fine tune my question:
fron 300hz-3khz which is higher resolution  and better and soundstaging and imaging?

the intended design is open baffle in an M-T-M-W-SW  setup with an all passive crossover

I have been working on a new product line for a new company using Neo 10's. I don't know of a better sounding driver on the market at any price to cover 200Hz to 3kHz better than a Neo 10.

I've been thinking an OB line array of those with a couple of good tweets would be killer.  BUT, look at the small quantity cost of that driver!  :duh:

I hear ya hank. my project is going to be an OB 4way with the neo10, hawthorne augie 10 and augie 15 tSW-W-N10-TW-N10-W-SW . I am doing the math and it will cost. but it will sound amazing! i just need to decide on a tweeter that can keep up .

I would have to agree with Danny.  I tried more mids and wide-range drivers than you can shack a stick at and the Neo10 came out on top for my purposes.  2 Neo10 per side in the baffles and one in the store bought BG center channel.

Danny, have you used the Neo8-S yet?  I just got one to test out from Meniscus.  Will you be stocking them?

Right now I do not see any applications for them that interest me.

Hey Studiotech,
That is a sweet looking pair of O.B Loudspeakers :green:

I might have to build a pair of those and try DSP Active tri-amping with some of those cool digamoda amps.
I had a pair of Carver Amazing's that were cool looking but those look like they might actually sound good too :thumb:

OK Danny are you going to hook us up with an "O.B. Servo 15" kit with Neo 10's and a Raal, Mundorf or Neo 3 top end?

I do have some designs along those lines (and even better) in the works.

Thanks!  The Digmoda amps are pretty solid performers, BUT the software sucks.  Real glitchy.  I am looking at Powersoft amp/dsp modules for the next build.  Here's one glamour shot in the sun:

Too bad that swimming pool is filled with water. The only good pool is one that's empty. That's where guys like me come in.

Oh, and the speakers are nice as well.

Thanks.  They were a real labor of love.  4 layers glued up to be 3" thick.  2 layers are bamboo plywood, so they are super stiff compared to MDF or normal types of plywood.
