Systems

mainly prototype - in progress, a Two-channel Audio System by bboru

Room Size
32'x15.75'x10.75'
System Overview
A reasonably high efficiency vinyl based system centred on Be Yamamura prototype amplification both built by Be and some stuff built to designs he gave me.
Music Preferences
classical, jazz + some modern/pop. LPs and just enough CDs to know that they suck!
Room Description
32x15'9"x 10. 8" isolated room built in old solid stone cow barn. Somewhat akward sonics, but wool carpet on order....then I will measure it and tune out the worse resonances. Other than the speakers all hardware is in an adjoining room.
Acoustic Treatment
Boomy - but will treat after all wool carpet has been fitted . heavy multi lined curtains, heavy upholstered seating,
Listening Impressions
The Impulse H2 horns are absolutely amazing, spacious, very wide and high soundstage for large scale music, yet precise and realistic with small scale jazz solo instruments and voice is almost too good to be true. I am torn between the two tt setups and will soon swap the arms and cartridges and compare. Also building a hardwood layered plinth for the SP10. The Lowther based horns are great too, but I have to think about bandwidth.
Media Storage
3200 + albums.....too costly to replace with modern media and much of this collection is not on CD etc.
Other Comments
I am also going to build a good 300b. amp with a tube pre. poss. Akido,..sometime! (I had a Yamamura 211 stereo amp on loan for a few years and really miss that one...it had WE VT4C tubes!!...It made any other amp sound restricted and without soul.)
