Am I looking for a speaker selector switch?
« on: 14 Feb 2020, 12:59 am »
I use the front end of my HT set up for 2 channel listening, but use a different amp when listening to music.
Switching my speaker cables out every time I want to listen to music has gotten old.
Would a speaker cable switch box be the appropriate thing to put in line for that?
If so, is there better quality ones to use that won't degrade the sound quality?

Thank you  :D

You could do that.  If you want something with little to no loss it won't be cheap - e.g. - https://avahifi.com/collections/used-demo-and-quick-ship/products/abx-switch-comparator

I swap amps when I use my main system for HT.  I use a pair of OK speaker cables (e.g. military spec wire) for HT.  You could do the same.  I do have HT Bypass in my main system preamp (and in another secondary system) but I use the main system in balanced mode and unlike my secondary system, there is only one type of input and output.

Been using Kramer switch boxes for years
Switching between two channel and HT
All analog connections, one step instead of a maze of ins and outs
To many blockades have an effect on the signal let alone even one.
