Hi predrag,

No he sent me the magazine - the technical measurements are absolutely superb.
I am trying to get the last paragraph translated to English.

The Heading for the review on the BDA-1 is 'Saubermann'

According to Alex in Germany (thank you Alex):

'Saubermann' is the very German slang: a Saubermann is someone who does everything right. in every aspect. in the past, the presence and the future --- so it is something very positive!

I sent Alex the last sentence of the review and he was kind enough to translate it for me:

"The Bryston is well worth the money. This inconspicuous converter delivers from up to 8 digital sources vast, clean, transparent and harmonic results which are even more stunning if the sources are high resolution material."

German HiFi magazines are usually putting point on the technical side  (Audio, Stereoplay, Stereo etc...).
They praise good technical solutions.
There is however less nonsense philosophy on the auditive side than in English press.
No wonder that Bryston (along with Accuphase, Krell and a few more) gets best remarks for their performance.
For some reason I don`t see Brystons on the cover pages of German press.

Predrag,

the Stereoplay issue of March 2008 shows (among two others) the BCD-1 on the frontcover.

MEMO: To All Bryston Customers
SUBJECT: Hi-Fi & Records Reviews Bryston BDA-1 DAC

April 10th, 2009

HI All,

We are please to announce our first official review on the Bryston BDA-1 External DAC from a very prestigious German Magazine – Hi-Fi & Records in their February 2009 issue.

The heading of the review is ‘SAUBERMANN’

Saubermann is German slang: for someone who does everything right, in every aspect, in the past, in the present and well into the future!

Some of the highlights of the review are:

•The Bryston is not a flatterer who sings like Orpheus and makes even stones melt. No, it acts with Suisse precision. It expands the soundstage which now moves much further back and out and makes instruments highly palatable.

•Soloists have a shocking presence. This is because of the BDA-1's dynamic expansion, which compared to many other players- places the instruments perfectly in the soundscape.

•With the BDA-1's ability to uncover the details it calls our attention to another aspect: the background. One example: on Kenny Drew's unbelievable tight ''Undercurrent'' (recorded 1960) the drum hits a beat behind the saxophone on the right side. Some D/A converters only show a narrow soundstage here - the BDA adds space and resolves the rhythmic nuances. The Bryston really makes the inner detail of a recording audible.

•The Bryston is well worth the money. This inconspicuous converter delivers from up to 8 digital sources vast, clean, transparent and harmonic results which are even more stunning if the sources are of high resolution material.

Nice one.I think WHEN I receive mine I'll tryout a squeezebox 3 thru the BDA-1.
Maybe some other BDA-1 users are using this with great results(I'm asking).
